Photography Release 25 June - 28 June 2020

This Release and Permission to Use Photographs is made and effective 25 June 2020 Between Children of Deaf Adults International aka CODA International Inc, a corporation organised and existing under the laws of the State of California, USA with you as a participant of CODA CON! 2020.

For good and valuable consideration, the receipt and sufficiency of which are hereby acknowledged, you as a participant hereby irrevocably and perpetually grant CODA International Inc. the unrestricted right, power and authority to reproduce, publish, print, distribute, transmit, copy or otherwise exploit in whole or in part, any medium known or later discovered, including but not limited by means of digital transmission through the internet, all photographs which are taken of you as a participant of the 2020 CODA International Conference.

Conference Behavior Statement

In our public behavior at CODA, we need to be tolerant of our diversity. That means we need to accept that another's behavior may be different from our own, and at the same time, we need to be sensitive to how our own behavior may be perceived by others. We need to remember that when we participate in any activity sponsored by CODA International, Inc., we are representative of the entire membership of CODA International, Inc. We ask, therefore, that our behavior be such that the membership will not feel "offended" or "put off." We do not feel the need to have "RULES" of behavior. We trust in the "common sense" of each individual, and that their respect and "duty of care" toward each other will suffice. The CODA Conference aims to be a safe haven for ALL who attend. It should be a safe place to express one's innermost feelings. It should be a time to be "ourselves." You may experience exhilaration at the new sense of "freedom" and/or you may even feel some fear, as perceived "taboos" are broken. We come from widely diverse backgrounds, and our ways of expressing ourselves will, necessarily be, widely diverse. We ask that all Codas be sensitive to the needs of others and tolerant of that very diversity. Some here are Gay/Lesbian, Senior Citizens, Gen Xers, Ys, and Zs, ex-convicts, people in recovery, Christian, Jewish, and the list goes on.

Confidentiality Statement

Conference participants are asked to respect the confidentiality of their fellow Coda participants in breakout sessions. Anything said during a session stays in the group. Anything shared at any other time, in any other gathering remains with the group as well. You may share issues, topics, or points only in ways that maintain confidentiality and anonymity (i.e., no names, ages, descriptive characteristics, and no specific content that may identify someone). This confidentiality statement is absolute and timeless; therefore, it extends beyond the immediate time of the conference.

Social Media Policy

CODA International, Inc. requests that participants of CODA Conferences engage in the following responsible and respectful practice of the use of Social Media: Be Clear that your opinions are your own. You are a member of CODA International, but you are representative of yourself. Be Respectful and maintain Confidentiality of other members attending CODA Conference. Ask first, before you post. Use Good Judgment in sharing only public information. What happens at CODA stays with Codas. Be mindful that not everything is to be shared outside of Conference. Be aware that what you post is permanent. Even deleted photos, posts, and comments can be traced and copied. Be careful what goes up.

Communications Statement

The languages used at the 2020 Conference will be spoken English, American Sign Language and International Sign. All large group events such as the welcome, icebreaker, auction, keynote and end note presentations, and announcements will feature all three languages. Breakouts and workshops are generally conducted in spoken English and will not include official interpretation. If you have specific communication needs, please let us know (on the registration form) and we will do our best to offer accommodations.

    Hello!

At this time, the CODA CON! 2020 registration waitlist is temporarily suspended while we begin processing registrants from the existing waitlist. Please wait until further notice before attempting to join the registration waitlist for the conference. We will inform the membership when we will open the waitlist again.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Here is the latest news about CODA CON! 2020… DRUM ROLL PLEASE….

•The board has approved an increase in conference attendees up to 500. When your name comes up from the waitlist, you will receive an email with a link to pay and confirm your registration. This must be done with in 24 hours. If it is not paid, we will move to the next person on the waitlist.

We graciously ask for your patience as this will not be done all at once to minimize any glitches or confusion.

•At this time, rooms are sold out for Sunday at the hotel venue, Crowne Plaza.  We are looking at alternative options for accommodations.

•There is still a waitlist for conference registration.  If you want to be put on the conference registration waitlist, please go to www.coda-international.org. Your CODA International membership will need to be up to date prior to registering. Once you click on “add to waitlist,” you will need to continue inputting your information including selecting a payment of either $250 deposit or $500 full rate. You will NOT need to make the payment at this time. Continue to fill out the rest of the registration form and submit. You will receive an email confirmation. IF you do not receive an email, this means your application was not completed; log in and review the information you submitted. If you still have issues after completing these steps, please email 2020@coda-international.org.

•We will create a waitlist for hotel rooms. We are looking into a “find a roommate” type of app to help you find or be a roommate(s) during conference. When a waitlist becomes available, please sign up if you are open to sharing and/or need a room.

•If you are registered and find that you need to cancel your conference registration, please email 2020@coda-International.org with your information including if you need a refund on other items or add-ons purchased (T-shirt, yearbook, pre-/post-conference activities, etc).  Note: Refunds are reduced by a $25 processing fee at this time.

•If you have a room and need to cancel it, email: 2020@coda-international.org, not the hotel

•If you are already on the waitlist, please wait patiently as we work to get people registered. Please be prepared to pay $250 or $500 when you receive your email with the payment link.

If you have any questions about your membership status or registration, email membership@coda-international.org.

Stay tuned, and check the website for more information. We will update the membership as soon as we have new information available.

    ***** IN THE MEANTIME*****

We strongly encourage you to reach out to other local Codas and actively get involved with local events. Please reach out to your region director and have the conversation of how to have more local gatherings if they are not already happening. Don’t let Coda gatherings be limited to conferences and retreats.

Codas UNITE and FEEL THE POWER!!

From your CODA CON! 2020 Co-chairs with gratitude,

Abby Coyer, Penny McGee, Margie Brooks, Jackie Harris
