Frequently asked questions

Registration FAQs

  1. Is CODA CON! sold out? 

    There are some spots available for voting members that reside in Region 6 & Region 7 to attend CODA CON! 2020. These spots are available for the full registration cost of $500, and are available until 1 March 2020, after then any remaining spot will be offered to the next individuals signed up on the waitlist. If you live in one of those regions and you would like to register for conference, please email us at 2020@coda-international.org. All other registration for CODA CON! 2020 is officially sold out, and the waitlist is currently closed.

    Any remaining spots you see available on the event registration page are for past Millie Brother Scholarship recipients and/or Silent Auction Conference Waiver recipients. If there are any remaining spots after the award date and/or recipients are unable to attend those spots will be offered to the next individuals signed up on the waitlist.

  2. If I’m on the waitlist what should I do? 

    Wait patiently, as we're still going through the list. If you are wondering where you are on the list email  2020@coda-international.org to check.

  3. I am registered and/or I am on the waitlist, can I transfer my registration to someone else? 

    Because CODA CON! is sold out, we will not be doing any transfers of registrations. If your registration is canceled and/or place on the waitlist is forfeited we will move to the next person on the waitlist.

  4. I want to apply for a conference waiver to attend. Where do I begin that process? 

    Be on the look out for an announcement from CODA International & watch the homepage of www.coda- international.org for the official announcement that the application for conference waivers has opened.

  5. I paid my registration (half or full), but I can’t attend conference now. What do I do?

    Email 2020@coda-international.org

Hotel FAQs

There are 2 hotels that have contracted with CODA Inc.:

Crowne Plaza is the main conference hotel, and Comfort Inn & Suites is the secondary, off-site hotel.

  1. When is check in/check out?

    Crowne Plaza: Check in 3pm Check out 12pm
    Comfort Inn & Suites: Check in 4pm, Check out 11am

  2. How far is the secondary hotel from CODA CON!?

    0.3 Miles, 600 Meters, 7 min walk between the 2 hotels

  3. How will attendees staying at the secondary hotel get back and forth between venues?

    Complimentary shuttles will be provided during the conference. A schedule and details are forthcoming.

  4. If I have a reservation at the Crowne Plaza, but I would rather stay at the Comfort Inn, can I move?

    Yes, reserve your room directly with Comfort Inn, cancel your reservation with the Crowne Plaza, & Email us.

  5. I need a roommate or I would like to be a roommate, how can I connect with other Codas to share a room?

Board Meeting & Membership Meeting FAQs

  1. When and Where are the Board and Membership Meetings at CODA CON!?

    The Board Meeting takes place the Tuesday and Wednesday before conference, 23-24 June 2020, at the Crowne Plaza. The Board Meeting is open to members to join. Feel free to just stop by to listen for a bit if you’re interested, or stay for a while if you’d like to learn more.

    The Membership Meeting will be during lunch on Saturday, 27 June 2020 at the Crowne Plaza. The Membership Meeting is open to Voting Members (in person) and agenda, updates, and notes will be made available online as available.
     
  2. How will members be able to access the meeting info if they are unable to attend?

    The Board of Directors is currently exploring an online possibility.

  3. Does CODA International follow any special procedure in their meetings?

  4. What are the standing rules for the Membership Meeting in 2020?

  5. Are there any motions being discussed at this Membership Meeting?

Professional Development Credit for Interpreters/Instructors/Teachers (CEUs) FAQs

  1. How many hours of CEUs can I earn at CODA CON!? 

    To be determined

  2. Will I need to provide my own professional organisation's identification information?

    Yes. We will process CEUs for many organisations, however, we do not have your personal identification/membership information with those organisations and we will not be able to look it up for you. 

  3. How are the CEUs reported to Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) or other organisations?

    We will report to RID all the required documentation. We will provide certificates of completion for those that need it for other organisations upon request.

  4. Will I need to submit something to RID as proof for my CEUs earned while at conference?

    No. However, others will need to request other documentation for their specific organisations (depending on what they require) to the local committee prior to conference. Please email us at 2020@coda-international.org for these requests.

  5. Will there be a certificate of Attendance or some kind of proof for my records?

    Yes. We also highly recommend you take a picture for your records of any collected documentation before we collect it. 

  6. I don’t have RID certification; I have certification from x-organisation. Who can I contact to specify what I need to gather for evidence that I participated in these trainings?

    Email 2020@coda-international.org and tell us about it. We'll get you in touch with the right person!

  7. Will the CEUs be categorized as Professional Studies or General Studies? 

    Many of the workshops that will have CEUs awarded will be considered "Professional Studies" however, some will be General Studies depending on the mixed nature of the content and audience that is expected to attend. We will have a better idea as the program is solidified.


General Conference FAQs

  1. When and where is registration check in? 

    Check back for the program schedule once it's finalised.

  2. Where is the Hospital Room (Hospitality Room) & What are the hours?

    The Hospital room will be in the Peacock I and II at the Crown Plaza and is open Thursday 25 June 2020 at 8am and will close at 11pm on Sunday 28 June 2020. This room is available to conference attendees throughout the event, and may only be closed for short periods for cleaning.

  3. What is the weather like in June in San Diego, California?

    June in San Diego brings what is often called, "June Gloom." This is a
     Southern California phrase used to describe a weather pattern that results in cloudy, overcast skies with cool temperatures during the late spring and early summer. Low-altitude stratus clouds form over the cool water of the California Current, and spread overnight into the coastal regions of Southern California. As often as it is cloudy, it can be sunny this time of year as we welcome the summer months to this region!

  4. I need to send auction items. Where do I ship them? 

    All things shipped to the hotel, should be sent no earlier than 2 weeks (8 June 2020) prior to conference. Address package with information below:

    We have been receiving multiple questions regarding the status of CODA CON! 2020 conference and if there are any changes because of COVID-19.

    The Co-chairs of CODA CON! will be meeting with the Board Liaisons and Executive Board members of CODA on Sunday, 15 March 2020 to discuss all options and possible changes that may occur. We appreciate your patience with us as we continue our journey in uncharted waters.

    We will provide updates to registrants and the membership as soon as possible.
